Well there is no bible verse or instruction that forbids owning snakes as pets. A snake can be kept as a pet like dogs and cats. However, as believers we know what a snake symbolizes in the bible, the devil himself. Although the snake is not the devil but it depicts him and his character if you can check Revelation 12:9 & Genesis 3:1.
And mostly snakes are used by traditional healers for all kinds of rituals which are ungodly. It then wouldn’t be advisable for a believer to own a snake as a pet.
